Manganese copper-zinc is one alloy type categorized under "Miscellaneous Copper-Zinc Alloys" (others include aluminum brass, silicon brass, and several special alloys), and contains zinc as its primary alloying element. Because of this, the alloy is more similar to brass than bronze. However, they differ enough from ordinary brasses to require a separate classification.

Common uses for manganese copper-zinc include pump & valve components, electrical springs, and switches.
